With a genuinely unsurprising plot and one-dimensional characters, Army of Thieves (Army, it certainly isn’t!) ends up being a simple heist flick to watch; one that feels 20-25 minutes excessively long. The Ludwig Dieter history is all that you’d anticipate that it should be: this works both for and against the film. The cast, excepting the lead pair of Matthias Schweighöfer and Nathalie Emmanuel, is a frustrating mix of misses (than hits). Additionally, the fundamental piece of a heist film is the strain it figures out how to raise during the heist scenes – here, it’s each of the a piece of cake – no scenes that make you go OMG!
