I gotta concede that I have had a “man smash” on George Clooney for a long while – likely going back to his days on ER. I adored his screen “coming out gathering” OUT OF SIGHT (an under-evaluated jewel, look at it). I thought he was breathtaking in THE PERFECT STORM, said he ought to have won the Oscar for MICHAEL CLAYTON and was happy to glide around space with him and Sandra Bullock in GRAVITY. In any case, I have been disillusioned in him of late from 2014’s MONUMENTS MEN to 2015’s TOMORROWLAND to the most noticeably awful film of 2016 HAIL, CAESAR, I started to think about whether he was “losing it”.
