Redford’s capacity to blur into a character is significant. This film isn’t about Redford’s character, actually like “The Legend of Bagger Vance” isn’t actually about Bagger Vance. The Last Castle is about honor to one’s self and honor among fighters, regardless of whether they are detainees. James Gandolfini’s depiction of a colonel who remains unaware of this honor or fraternity is great. He causes you to detest his character.
